Light Streaks with Particle Flow / 3ds Max
In this tutorial, I will go over how to create light streaks inside of 3ds max. The tutorial will
include setting up the particle system and the needed shader. I have also include several
samples at the end of the video. He are some examples of light streaks with different opacity
maps.
Basic working knowledge of 3DS Max and Particle Flow are required. I have included the Max
2009 sample files plus the opacity maps used in this tutorial. These are free. You can
download them here:
Tutorial Files (Requires Max 2009 or Higher)
Additional Notes:
- As mentioned in the video, the additive opacity option does not include an alpha by
default. You can change this by altering the 3dsmax.ini file. Please see the 3ds Max
Help section for more details - search for "Additive Opacity".
- In my examples, I added glow in After Effects. The exception is with the mental ray
rendering where I used the MR Lens Glow shader.
